Beaver Creek Guest Ranch
Two-day round ups and cattle drives. In the late 1800s, young men eager for-a-days pay would join on as wranglers to drive cattle herds. They lived on the trail, sleeping and eating with the cattle, hence the name "cowboys". The stories of the cowboy, whether on the ranch or on the range, is a tale of rugged adventure. Step back in time and experience an adventure as each fall we gather our herd of cattle off the mountain pastures and drive them to the shipping corrals.

The JX Ranch is a 7,000-acres working cattle ranch and guest ranch, not a "dude ranch", located in northeastern New Mexico with an altitude of 4,000 to 5,000 feet. The JX Ranch Headquarters sits in the shadow of the Caprock, a 400 feet steep escarpment that runs through the ranch. JX Ranch is owned and operated by the two of us, Tom and Mimi Sidwell. Corriente and Longhorn cows and their calves graze on this ranch and when enough grass permits, we also pasture yearling steers. Right now we're in a severe drought and have to cut down on the number of cattle. We sell Corriente roping cattle as well as natural lean beef. During the summer months we take up to four guests at a time, who want to experience the day-to-day life on a cattle ranch, drive cattle to new pastures and anything else we do here.

Texas Cattle Drive Vacation Adventures

Beaumont Ranch
Three County Cattle Drive. The atmosphere at Beaumont Ranch is upscale, but very relaxed. The old Chisholm Trail ran through the middle of Beaumont Ranch. Even today real cowboys on horseback can be seen herding longhorn cattle outside the ranch’s 1880’s Western Town, Chisholm Fork. Located just 35 minutes from downtown Fort Worth and Dallas, the ranch is just close enough to the city to allow convenience and just far enough to place you where the West begins.

Rockin' R Ranch
Rockin’ R Ranch is more than a place to come and lose yourself for a week. More than 130 years ago, the Black family settled in Grass Valley—and, to this day, they own and manage the working cattle ranch. Most of Antimony’s 168 residents, like the Blacks, are ranchers. Their acreage surrounds a little town that features one country store, a single church, and a two-room school...much like it was when the Blacks first settled here. That means one thing: where there are cattle ranches, there are cattle drives. So if you’ve ever imagined yourself following the trail boss across the western plain, here’s your chance!

Wyoming Cattle Drive Vacation Adventures

Bitterroot Dude Ranch
Summer and fall cattle drive vacations. The Bitterroot cattle graze on the adjacent national forest land from July to October. Guests who ride well enough can help the cowboys with the challenging work of herding the cows into the mountains the first week of July and rounding them up again the last week of September. The cattle are spread out over fifty square miles of high mountains, forests, clearings and river valleys so that riders are often off the beaten path in country where one encounters wild game like elk, deer, moose, and grizzly bear.

Box "R" Ranch
The Lozier's Box "R" Ranch is a true Western Wyoming working ranch, to which gracious guest ranch accommodations have been carefully added. Our ranch vacations are designed for you to enjoy virtually unlimited horseback riding holidays, with liberties and freedoms not normally found on other western ranches. We are not a typical dude ranch, nor a horseback riding resort. Our cavvy of 75 horses are working ranch horses. They are not stable horses, thus nose-to-tail riding is strongly discouraged. An interest in horses, riding and western ranch life is paramount to obtaining the utmost enjoyment during your cowboy vacation in this beautiful and remote mountain area.
